Everytown for Gun safety
Every day, 120 Americans are killed with guns and more than 200 are shot and wounded.*. The effects of gun violence in America extend far beyond these casualties. Gun safety in the United States is something worthy of conversation and this button series will get people talking. I was invited to submit an anti-gun violence related button design to the Busy Beaver Button-O-matic Series!

Emerge Festival Branding
Brand identity creation of the show, guided production on festival key art, custom illustrations for the showcases & web design.
“Our business was in need of a re-brand and we wanted to work with someone who could be collaborative with the in-house team, while remaining the subject matter expert on brand guidelines. Melissa was incredible to work with in both aspects. She handled requests and suggestions from the team like a pro, really understanding when we needed her suggestions and when we needed her executional expertise. She produced incredible work, had great turnaround times, and was an excellent communicator at all times. She became an integral part of our marketing and design team, even mentoring junior designers and helping them achieve their goals.”

Inforum NYC
As a senior graphic designer, I led a team of junior designers to deliver a successful Inforum event at Javits, under the supervision of the creative director. I pushed the envelope on design across all collateral, and my communication with vendors and production was a valuable learning experience that helps me succeed in the fast-paced world of event design.
Snapshots from the show
Collaborating with a team of animators, creative directors, and designers, we created an opening video that showcases Infor and excites attendees. I designed the type treatment at the end and worked closely with the animators to bring it to life.

Behind the scenes
Working closely with an origami artist on our team, we developed a unique concept for Infor's holiday card. The video team embraced the challenge and brought the stop-motion animation to life. Above is the final product, and below is the storyboard that we presented to the C-suite (and received immediate approval for!).

Kindness Detective
My illustration process often begins with the playful and expressive world of watercolors. However, to achieve a more polished and refined outcome, I often transition to using Procreate in the final stages of illustration. Procreate enables me to refine linework, add subtle gradients and textures, and adjust color balance for a more cohesive and professional look. Additionally, the ability to easily duplicate and manipulate layers allows for greater flexibility and experimentation, ultimately resulting in more polished and impactful illustrations.
I was entrusted with the magical task of transforming a story into a visual experience. Words, imbued with Ashley Abeles' wisdom and compassion, served as my guide as I embarked on a journey of illustration and typography. It was an opportunity to breathe life into the narrative, to translate emotions into visuals that would resonate with young hearts.

The R.E.A.L. Model, Rethinking Generalization
Excited at being tasked with designing the book The REAL Model: A Practitioner's Guide to Teach for Generalization in ABA Treatment for Autism and Other Disabilities. We knew that this book would be an important resource for practitioners working with children with autism and other disabilities, and she wanted to make sure that the design was both visually appealing and informative.
